Joy Christmas Banner
J O Y spells joy and joy is the theme of this Christmas banner. Each letter represents a Christmas theme - you have a choice of two for the letter O. Stocking, ornament, wreath and candle holder. Make this fun Christmas banner or table runner vertically or horizontally, or make individual blocks as pot holders. Add decorative embellishments for added interest if you like.

Horizontal Banner measures: 12" x 28"
Pot Holders measure: 8" x 8". Potholders make quick and charming Christmas gifts or hostess gifts for the holiday season. They require small amounts of fabric and can often be made from leftovers from other Holiday sewing projects. Just the thing to add a little Christmas cheer to holiday cooking projects.
Vertical Banner measures: 12" x 32" (left) or 14" x 34" (right)
Background: 1/3 yd for banners or 12" square per pot holder
Letters: 3 Fat Eighths of different colors
Gold for flames: TWO 2" squares
Bow for Wreath: 3" x 6" piece for bow or use a bow made of ribbon
Border: 1/3 yard (not required for pot holders)
Batting: a low loft batting is recommended for banners:
16" x 30" for square ended banners
16" x 36" for pointed end banner
a heat resistant batting is recommended for pot holders:
10" square for each
Backing: 1/2 yard or 10" square for each pot holder
Hanging Sleeve: vertical 4" x 14", horizontal 4" x 28" (not required for pot holders)
Binding: 1/4 yard or 40" of made binding for each pot holder
Thread for piecing and quilting
Sewing machine and accessories
General quilting supplies such as rotary cutter, rulers etc
Optional Embellishments: Embroidery, small jingle bells, fabric paint, beads, ribbons, tassels, braids and other trims may be added to embellish this banner.
