Approximately eighteen years ago, Michele decided to take up a little hobby of quilting to pass the time. Like every other self-respecting “quilt-a-holic”, it quickly became a passion. Machine quilting was of particular interest to her, as it was just becoming a popular and acceptable way of quilting your quilt. Michele was fascinated with the freedom of free motion quilting - especially creating designs that need no marking. Embellishing quilts with a variety of decorative threads was thrilling to her, and she was determined to incorporate as many of them in my quilts as she could! Working with these threads could sometimes be frustrating, so she spent countless hours developing strategies to work with them more effectively.
Her main goal as an educator is to conduct positive upbeat classes that teach solid techniques and give all levels of quilters new confidence. For the past 15 years, she has taught at many quilt guilds and shows across the United States and Canada. In addition, she was on the faculty of Quilt University.
At the same time that Michele began lecturing and teaching, she began working withMcCall’s QuiltingandQuick Quiltsmagazines. Over the past 15 years, she’s had over 80 quilts published in their magazines, in addtion to Fons and Porter magazines and several articles inQuilter’s Home Magazine. She has also released the 2 hour instructional DVD,Bobbinpalooza and Machine Quilting Fun!
Michele’s newest passion is designing fabric for Northcott Silk. Her seventh line entitledFlamingowas recently shipped to stores all over the world, and she just finished up her seventh! Yet another great kids' line,Dino Palswill be available next year! Graphic design is a just another way to express her creativity, and it’s so wonderful for her to use the textiles created in quilts!
Her book,Bobbin’ Quiltin’ and Fusin’ Funwas debuted by AQS at the International Quilt Market in Houston, Fall 2011. Additionally, Michele paired up with Aurifil Threads to create her own line of machine quilting threads calledPrism.Prismthreads are a heavyweight (12 wt) variegated thread that span the colors of the rainbow!
