Crafting Goals for August

Tags: crochet, embroidery, inspiration, knitting, quilting, spinning, toy making

August was my birthday month so additional activities consumed some of my time.... I feel I may be falling behind a little, but let's see how I got on.... (for a lowdown what my Crafting Goals were for the year, see my blog post Crafting Goals 2025)

For quilting: A new flower block every month

Achieved! August's flower block is a Peony. This flower has lots of petals and extra detail added in the pattern to simplify it. Both versions are included.

For Knitting: A Challenge to complete my 25 for 2025 list. Here is the challenge: Knitting/Crochet 25 for 2025 challenge

Although I've been doing a lot of knitting, nothing was crossed off my list this month.

I'm working on a number of test knits that need to be finished as well as some commissioned work. One test I knitted was this new summer top. I'm looking forward to wearing it when the days get warmer.

I will have something crossed off the list for next month!

For Spinning: 5 grams of roving each day all year

Achieved!

I continued spinning the tan roving (lower right corner) as mentioned last month, and then plied it with previous month's spinning.

Then I started this beautiful roving gradient.

For Crochet: A temperature blanket

Another Month Completed!

August's block sees the 8th block finished for the year. Just 4 more to do! I can see the end in sight.

Toy Making: A gnome challenge by Sarah Schira (one every month).

8th Achieved!

This month's gnome is called "The More You Gnome". He does have a really big nose, and also a really tall hat!

I've added him to my lineup!

This month, I also crocheted this adorable gnome house.

Embroidery: Make a small Redwork ornament each month.

Double Achieved!

I managed to complete two small redworks this month. I'd like them all finished well before December so I can sew them up!

What have you been up to this month?
