Knitting/Crochet Challenge 25 for 2025

25 for 2025 is a list of knitting and/or crochet projects or techniques that I want to check off for 2025. One project may cover more than one on the list. For example, I might make a color work jersey so I can check off both #4 and #7 by making one item. Each list item can only be checked off if that item is completed during 2025, however it can be a WIP (work in progress) started prior to 2025. In fact, #1 is just that.
  1. Finish a 2024 project
  2. Brioche
  3. Lace work
  4. Color work

Following is my intended knits to get all this list complete. I will see how many I can achieve by the end of 2025.

  1. I have a choice of 2 shawls, 1 cardie, 1 pair of socks
  2. Brioche cardie started in 2024
  3. Bejewelled is a shawl that includes lace work
  4. Color work socks - I have a pattern in mind: Flower garland https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flower-garland---blomsterkrans
  5. Silk top - I haven't selected a pattern, but I have yarn in my stash - several in fact.
silk yarns ready to knit into summer tops
  6. Advent shawl II (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/advent-shawl-ii) by Maria Knits - to use advent minis
  7. Currently working on a test knit that will cover this
  8. Red cardie - Again, I don't have a pattern selected yet, but have the wool
red paua sock yarn by Revive Designs
  9. Color work socks - or though I usually make more than one pair so have choices for this.
  10. Linen Soup - another shawl that uses minis
    Dreamfire Artisan 2024 advent yarns
  11. Thinking of a wide brim hat if I can find a suitable pattern or my granddaughter needs a new hat so this gives me an alternative option.
  12. Gnome - I have joined a gnome challenge by Sarah Schira so hope to make 12 of these!
gnome hat made for the 2025 gnome challenge - January's gnome
  13. Wilfreda is a pattern on my wishlist for this year. It is a jersey so could also be used as #7
  14. For my deep yarn stash I have 2 options. Revive Designs red paua (she stopped dyeing yarn a few years back - see photo above) or some Teal alpaca that was purchased before 2000 (photo below).... both more than 5 years in my stash.
  15. Plans to make my grandson a jersey - no pattern nor yarn selected yet
  16. The pattern I have selected for my lace weight shawl - it has been sitting with the yarn for over 5 years. Would be nice to get it done!

  17. I'll select the use of Homespun yarn for this since I'm a spinner. I will likely make Orbits which is a jersey:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/orbits
homespun wool spun to fingering weight wool
  18. Dawn Barker (Linen Soup) or Marie Knits (Advent shawl II)
  19. Both Linen Soup and Advent Shawl II will cover this
  20. Temperature Blanket - this is crocheted but that's ok. It is definitely an epic adventure!
first 6 crocheted squares of temperature blanket
  21. Bejewelled is the shawl I listed above - it uses beads
  22. My grandson is still considered a kid so his jersey will cover this option.
  23. Nuala a pattern by Truly Myrtle that I've wanted to knit for ages - it could also cover the deep pattern stash option #16
  24. The shawl using my Teal alpaca yarn is lace weight
  25. The Gnome challenge includes a mystery knit or I made join Stephen West's mystery knit along. Of course, there is bound to be a new technique to try too.

That's my list. Do you have one? Will you join in?

Of course, I'm going to record all my achievements in my project book using my project pages
