Have you ever thought about stitching your way through the alphabet with flowers? It’s exactly as lovely as it sounds. I recently came across Barbara Dieges’ Alphabet Flower Blocks, and I can’t stop thinking about them. Each letter from A to Z is paired with a different flower - like Anemone for A, Bluebells for B, Crocus for C, and all the way to Zinnia for Z.
It’s such a fun mix of florals and lettering, and every block has its own personality. Some are sweet and delicate, others are bold and dramatic -just like the flowers themselves.
What I really love is how flexible this flower collection is. You can pick out just one or two letters (maybe your initials? or a gift for someone?), or go all-in and make the whole set. If you're the type who likes a bigger project, there’s a 100 page eBook version that includes all 26 blocks, additional appliques to make sashing and extra blocks along with all the lowercase letters to include your own (or the one included) saying around the border.

I can already picture a few ways to use these:
- A wall hanging with your name spelled out in flowers
- A sampler quilt that grows as you finish each block
- A gift for a gardener or flower lover
- Even just a single block framed in a hoop or mini quilt or on a tote pocket

The designs themselves are really approachable too. You don’t need to be a master appliqué quilter to enjoy them - just someone who loves fabric, flowers, and a little stitching time. Each block comes with instructions for Barbara's method of freezer paper applique.

So if your sewing space could use a bit of garden energy (minus the weeding), these blocks might be just the thing. We are releasing 2 blocks each fortnight (bi-weekly) which is perfect timing for you to have them all made before Christmas. Check out the dates here: Floral Alphabet Garden Quilt block release dates
Do you have a favorite flower from A–Z? I think mine might be S for Starflower…

or maybe U for Ursinia. Hard to choose!

Let me know what your favorite is or if you have other ideas for how you’d use them. If you'd like to check out all the letters you'll find them here: Floral Alphabet Garden Quilt blocks
I’d love to hear how your alphabet garden is growing!
