As I began to draw up this month's flower block, I remembered receiving a message inquiring about my appliqué technique. One of the questions asked was: "What does the back of the block look like?" Of course, I promptly snapped a photo of the back of my latest flower block (Nasturtium) and sent it off to the inquiring mind, then thought that this would be a good image for my readers to see too!

I always find the back rather interesting and wonder how it would look if I colored it with fabric paint or water colored pencils. I gave it a try and had fun with this idea. I will continue to paint these in my spare time.

Another question, frequently asked..... other than a flower block quilt, what else can these flower blocks be used for? In my most recent flower block patterns, I've been including (when space allows) the following collection of suggestions for inspiration. Today, I've added photos of some I have made.
● Mini Wall Hangings: Showcase the block as a standalone piece. Here are three I have hanging in my lounge!

● Table Runners & Cushions: A charming way to bring flowers indoors year-round to adorn your table or sofa and other decor. This block, I added a border to create a table runner, and gave it away as a gift. It could also be used as a decorative wall hanging.

● Tote & Apron Decoration: Use it for a pocket on a tote or apron. I used several different blocks to make totes. This is one of my favorites. Others have been given away.
