creating colorways in ninepatch playground

One Pattern, Multiple Themes

Over the past couple of week's I've been adding some of Pat Daniel's patterns to my website and I was so inspired by the designs that I started playing with one called "9-patch Playground" in different color combinations. Thinking they all looked lovely, I wanted to share what I did.

I created a Fall look...

An antique look...

A feminine look...

and a masculine or monocrome look...

Which is your favorite? I think they all look interesting.

This pattern is based on a nine-patch block and is much easier to construct than you might think by looking at it. Of course, Pat's straightforward instructions and large graphic definitely help.

It is actually quite easy to create the different colorways using a photo editor. Have you tried it? I use GIMP as it is free to download however it can be a little overwhelming to learn, that's why I also teach this along with two other useful programs in my online workshop "Free Software for Quilters".
