Have you ever wanted to change the size of your applique templates? I use a free software program all the time when I'm designing a quilt to make designs just the right size for what I need.
Why would you want to do this? Sometimes making an applique pattern larger, it simplifies the design because there isn't so much tiny detail. Another reason is because you might want to transfer the design into a bed quilt or make it smaller for a specific size to be used as a central design. I'm sure there are many other reasons too!
Enlarging a design is easy to do. I use a program called PosteRazor which is free to download to your computer (or you can use it online). I prefer to use it offline. You can find it online here: http://posterazor.sourceforge.net (Please note: be careful not to click on any ads. Ads are included on this page to gain revenue for the designers since the software is free to use, but be sure just to select the type of download you want (Windows or OSX) and it will automatically download. If it doesn't, wait for the green countdown to disappear and then click the big green button)
Today I thought I'd walk you through how I use this program - it's very simple but doesn't have a lot of instructions. Watch my video below to see how easy it is:
Remember to take note of where you saved your file and what you called it. You'll need to locate it again so you can print out the pages.
Here is a timeline of the video - hover over the progress bar and you will see the titles - much easier the trying to locate the time.
This video was just a portion of one of the learning videos in my workshop "Free Software for Quilters". If you'd like to learn more about it, please consider signing up for my class: Details about Free Software for Quilters
You'll probably find other things you can use this cool program for too. I'd love to hear how you use it so be sure to leave me a comment below.
Happy Quilting!
