Ginkgo Garden is my newest quilt pattern. I've been working on this for quite a while and can finally say I'm down to the finishing touches.
This pattern was certainly fun to make and the blocks can be made using 1 of 3 different methods (all of which are included in the pattern). All blocks consist of half square triangles creating an overall swirling effect, like a leaf-whisking wind swirl.... you will notice one side of the block is plain while the other is pieced.
The three different methods include scrappy pieced, foundation pieced (shown above), and simply plain (a single fabric triangle). You can choose any method as they all are explained in the pattern and foundation templates are included too.
I used a bunch of scraps to make mine!
Using my artistic ability, I created an applique shape that resembles half a ginkgo leaf, appliqueing them in shades of pink. Real ginkgo leaves can be brilliant shades of fall that would also make an amazing quilt. I would love to see a quilt those colors!
