Most quilters including myself, have more than one hobby or craft. I'm an avid quilter, knitter, spinner, crocheter and toy maker to name a few.... and like those of us who do crafting, we never seem to find enough time to try/make everything we want to.... so this year I'm setting myself some goals. It is always fun to look back on what I managed to achieve at the end of the year!
So this is what I have in mind....
For quilting: A new flower block every month (I had this down for last year too, but didn't achieve it. I have high hopes that I might this year!) More than likely I will use my drawing and photo for the agapanthus I took in the photo challenge last month. It's a great place to start!
For Knitting: A Challenge to complete my 25 for 2025 list. Here is the challenge, will you join in? Knitting/Crochet 25 for 2025 challenge
For Spinning: 5 grams a roving each day all year (or the equivalent - some days might be 10g so I can miss a day if I cannot fit it in). After completing a 12-day advent that my daughter made for me during December, I figure this was very doable. To start out, I'm spinning my Dreamfire advent from 2024. With each color change, I blend the two colors together on my blending board. You can see the rolag of blended fawn and gold roving in the center.
For Crochet: A temperature blanket - if you haven't heard of these before, they are blankets based on the high and low temperatures of the day. I've seen some beautiful blankets made using a calendar layout so this is my goal. I'd better start running in those end so it isn't a mammoth job at the end!
Toy Making (and another knit challenge): A gnome challenge by Sarah Schira. I joined the mystery gnome challenge in December and loved it. I have one lonely nana gnome on my window sill and I need to add to it so I'm hoping I'll have 13 by the end of the year.
Embroidery: I haven't done a lot of embroidery recently, but it is something I really want to get back into so my daughter and I have set ourselves a challenge of making a small Redwork ornament each month.
I've also decided to update you each month and give you a progress report to see how well I'm doing. Do you have goals for 2025? I'd love to hear what they might be.
