    FAQ About Patterns

Question: Where do I find the download I purchased?
As soon as you make a purchase, you are directed to a Thank You page which will have a link to download your pattern.
We also email you the 'Thank You' to your email inbox which includes the link to download your pattern. Please check your spam/junk box if you do not receive this.
Question: I've clicked the download link and nothing happens, what should I do?
Chances are the pattern is downloading in the background. Give it a moment then check your file app (iphone) or download folder (in My Files or File Manager on android) to see if the file is there. If it isn't, before trying again, try the suggestions in the trouble downloading question below.
Question: I'm having trouble downloading the pattern, is there anything I should do?
Yes, the most important thing to do is turn off any popup blocker. Popup blockers prevent the download window from being seen by you, yet we will not know about it so each time you try, it will appear to us that you have attempted to download the pattern.
Here is a full list of things to try:
    • Ensure that no pop up blockers are enabled
    • Ensure you are using a stable connection - wifi is better than phone data
    • Clear your cache and cookies
    • Try a different web browser, as well as private windows to rule out any browser issues
    • Ensure the web browser is up to date and that the latest device software is up to date
    • Try another device, like another computer, tablet, or mobile phone
Question: What if I exceed my download tries?
Don't fear, we will always make sure you receive your purchased pattern. If your download link expires, simply email us and we will send you a new link.

    Batting and Fabric Sandwiches

    • for practicing our stitches and thread: two or three muslin/cotton batting sandwiches. Scraps are fine for this.
    • for our technique sample: a sandwich approximately 15" x 15".  The top fabric should be something colorful, batting is cotton, and the backing is anything you like.  You will also need a piece of black cotton muslin at least 12" x 12".
    • for your project: Background piece approximately 24" x 30".  If you do a light background, your fused pieces should be dark; if you do a dark background, your fused pieces should be light.  Cotton batting and backing cut at least 5" larger than your background fabric

Assorted fabrics that will translate your scene.  Hand-dyed, painted and batik fabrics are best.  Be sure to have at least five different fat quarters on hand.

1/2 - 1 yard (depending on the size of your piece) of contrasting fabric for the border

Lightweight fusible web – 2 yards.  I prefer Shade’s Soft Fuse

    • sewing machine and all that sewing machine stuff.  Your machine needs the zigzag stitch for this method.
      • walking foot
      • darning (free motion)  foot
    • assorted threads, embellishment cords and yarns that both blend and contrast with your background.
    • clear monofilament thread.  Polyester by Sulky or Superior is usually easier to use than nylon.
    • Topstitch 90 needles (optional, but a good idea if you are using decorative threads to stitch down your piece)
    • scissors for both paper and fabric
    • rotary cutter and mat
    • rotary cutter with pinking blade/wavy blade is useful for this method.  It is also available for purchase on my Web site.
    • drawing paper – 11" x 18"
    • pencil with a good eraser
    • iron and mat
