Tuesday Tutor is the beginning of a series of blogs posted every Tuesday for the next few weeks. I published this quilt originally over 10 years ago and thought it would be fun to recreate it. I hope you will join me for the coming weeks as I give you instructions on how to make this unique quilt sampler. This will be a great learning journey if you have never done quilting, or simply a fun way of making a quilt together and using bits and pieces in your stash. Join me as I work along.
To start, here is a photo of the sampler quilt you will be making. I give options along the way so you can make this sampler into a scrappy quilt if you want to use up some scraps of fabric. The finished quilt is approximately 34" x 46" - you can easily make it larger if you wish.
Sampler Quilt
There are SEVEN blocks in this quilt. These are:
- Rail Fence
- 9-Patch
- Corner Flip
- Friendship Star
- Log Cabin
- Flying Geese
- Double Monkey Wrench
Here are a list of fabrics you'll need. You don't have to use the same colors as I have but try to keep to dark fabrics where I use dark and light where I use light so you get a good balance in the quilt to see the finish design.

Other Requirements:
You will also need the following supplies:
- Sewing Machine (unless you wish to stitch by hand, in which case a needle)
- Rotary Cutter, Ruler, and Cutting Mat (for accurate cutting)
- Neutral Thread for piecing
- Iron and Ironing Board
- Scissors, needles, pins, and other sewing supplies
These are the fabrics I have chosen to work with. It helps to clip off a small piece of fabric to pin or glue onto the page so I can easily refer to when needed.
