This month’s BOW flower block has taken a slight turn from my usual flowers, and I couldn’t be more delighted to share it with you. Inspired by one of summer’s most cheerful treats (and a table topper I made years ago), my latest block features a strawberry plant - bright, playful, and full of color.
As with all my designs, this block began life on the computer. I love starting digitally, sketching and refining the shapes until everything feels balanced and the design has that just-right look. Once I’m happy, it’s time to translate those ideas into fabric - always my favorite part, where the design really comes to life.

For this strawberry block, I’ve also included the pieced pattern I designed years ago that allows you to turn the block into a delightful little table topper. It’s a lovely way to showcase the design on its own, whether as a seasonal accent or a cheerful pop of color on the table.... or simply make the block to include in your next quilt.

Now, a small confession… while working on this block, I managed to skip one very important step. In my enthusiasm, I completely forgot to reverse my templates before printing them out. Fortunately, I caught it before I cut any fabric! If you’ve ever forgotten to reverse your templates for fusible appliqué, you’ll know the moment of realisation that follows - everything ends up backwards! It wasn’t the look I had in mind for this block, so what should have been simple became a longer process filled with careful checking and a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe, and trust the creative process.
The good news? The templates were fully corrected before being added to the pattern, so you won’t be repeating my little adventure. Think of it as one of those creative hiccups that keeps us humble (and gives me a story to tell later).

I hope you enjoy stitching up this strawberry BOW block as much as I enjoyed designing it (templates and all). Whether you add it to your growing collection or turn it into a table topper, it’s a cute little project that celebrates both flowers and fruit - what’s not to love?
I'm off to stitch in the strawberry seeds on this block. Will you join me in creating this new BOW block and other fruity blocks throughout the year? You can find the pattern here: Strawberry Block & Table Topper
