Are you ready to end the year with a burst of creativity? This December, we’re hosting a Photo Challenge designed to inspire quilters... or any artist really. It's the perfect way to fuel your imagination during the holiday season when we are all so busy!
How It Works
- Take One Photo Every Day: Each week, capture a photo daily. Look for subjects that spark joy or tell a story—textures, landscapes, festive scenes, or even everyday objects.... when you are busy doing the chores, sitting relaxing, or with friends and family, think about possible photos you can take and simply snap one with your photo or camera.
- Choose Your Favorite: At the end of the week, select one photo that speaks to you the most. It might be your favorite or it might have the potential to be cropped or chopped. The choice is yours!
- Get Creative: Use your chosen photo as a starting point for creativity. Sketch, draw, crop, or jot down ideas inspired by it. Think about how you might translate the colors, shapes, or mood into a quilt.
Why Join?
- Find Inspiration Everywhere: From shimmering holiday lights to wintery landscapes or summery beaches, December is full of artistic potential waiting to be captured.
- Develop a Habit of Observation: Taking photos daily helps train your eye to notice details and patterns—skills that are invaluable in quilting.
- Build a Creative Portfolio: By the end of the challenge, you’ll have a collection of ideas and sketches to jumpstart your 2025 quilting projects.
Share Your Journey
We’d love to see what you create! Share your photos, sketches, or quilt ideas with our community on social media. Use the hashtag #DecemberQuiltChallenge so we can celebrate your creativity together or email them to me and I can post them on our weekly blog along with my own.
I'll be posting at the beginning of the week, but you can choose any day to select your weekly photo. Start snapping, sketching, and dreaming up quilts with us this December. Let’s turn everyday moments into beautiful works of art!
