- Description
The applique for this Thanksgiving quilt is fast to put together because there is no need to be totally exact when it comes to cutting out the leaves - leaves are all different so if you happen to make them a little crooked it doesn't matter... instead, it makes your quilt a more interesting piece. The applique method included in the instructions is Ruth's quilt-as-you-go applique which speeds up the construction - or you can applique and quilt separately if you wish.
The pattern includes applique tips and extra leaf templates from those you can see in the photos, with extra ideas, suggestions, and tips for quilting. Instructions also include an easy method for creating mitered borders that come together quickly and accurately.
What's great about this pattern? You can easily adjust the size to suit your style or space by adding more leaves and creating a larger wreath or increasing the background square. Ruth's extra ideas for quilting will help fill in the space! Or use it as a centerpiece for a beautiful bed quilt .....and one more advantage, all the applique is made up from scraps so all you need is a background square (at least 20" square) and a 1/2 yard for the borders (see notes if increasing the size) plus whatever scraps you have. No scraps? purchase one multicolored Fall fabric and create a three fabric quilt!
Note: If making a larger size, border strips need to be the length of finished quilt ie background length + 2 border widths.
